Why Doing the Right Thing Pays off in the End
One of the hardest things you can do in life would be to do the right thing. That which you think is the best thing. Not what you friends, instructors, family, chef and culture believes is the correct thing.
What’s the right thing? That’s your decision to determine. Regularly there is a small voice in your mind that tells exactly what the proper thing is. Or a gut feeling.
It might let you know to get up from the couch, stop eating those snacks and proceed to the gym instead. Sometimes you might put in your exercise clothing and go. Occasionally you don’t.
It might tell one to quit sulking and feeling to be a casualty with everything against you and rather consider the opportunities and take action. Sometimes you will. Occasionally you don’t.
Here are three exceptional reasons:
1. You tend to get exactly what you give.
By doing the right thing you generally get the same things back. Not everyone will do it but many will. Not always right away but someplace farther down the line. Matters often even out. Do the correct thing, set in the additional effort and you also typically get good items back. Don’t do it and you typically get less good things back from the world.
2. To increase your self-respect.
This is a very important point. When you don’t do the proper thing you are not only sending out signs out in to your world. You are also sending signals to yourself. You don’t do the proper thing when you don’t sense good about your-self. You could experience emptiness or get caught in negative idea loops. It’s like you’re letting your self down. You’re telling yourself that you can’t handle doing the best thing. To perhaps not do the proper thing is a bit like punching yourself in the abdomen.
3. To avoid self-sabotage.
A powerful side effect of not doing the proper thing is that you give yourself a lack of everything you consider you deserve. This can actually screw up you along with your success. If you don’t do the correct thing in your lifetime then you won’t feel as if you deserve the success that you may be on your way towards or encountering right now. That means you start to self-sabotage, maybe by choice or through unconscious thoughts.
Should you on some degree don’t think that you are someone who deserves the achievement you want then you will likely find ways to sabotage that success. You can rationalize it almost any way that you want and make it about something else or what someone else did. But often times it’s only you standing in your own way. By doing the proper thing your can raise your self esteem and feel like somebody who deserves his/her success.
When you feel uncertain about doing the right thing remind your self of the powerful rationales above (or any other that one can appear with). They could give you that added push of motive you require to spring in to action.
Go for progress. Not perfection.
I’m perhaps not saying you will do the proper thing on a regular basis. I certainly don’t. But I’m stating that we can strive for slow improvement. And then 30 percent. Or it is possible to attempt to do the correct thing at since many opportunities as you find this week. Attempt some things and find out functions best for you.
My purpose is merely to not get stuck in considering about perfection or being some kind of saint. You can be paralyzed by this from taking any action at all. Or abandon you with unfavorable feelings despite doing the best thing many, several times (since you are nonetheless not feeling like you’re not exactly perfect).
If you infrequently do that which you’re feeling/think is the right thing now then you will probably not have the capacity to shift this fully over the week end. It might take a while.
Simply take action.
The more you feel on these matters, the more regularly you are inclined to produce reasons to maybe not do it. You must think but not over presume since you are often trapped by that in analysis paralysis. To elevate your self-pride and get a coil of positive activity whirling in your globe and with the people around you need to begin going and take actions.
Taking the course of doing the right thing requires more effort and can be more painful.
However, when you understand the way you’re hurting yourself it gets a lot harder to just prevent doing the best thing. The perceived advantages of not doing the right thing – such as it being easier – tend to reduce their strength and are changed having a more clearer grasp of what you are doing to yourself and others.
Taking this – maybe a small less traveled – avenue is much more rewarding than taking the easy way out.
